Adult and Juvenile Justice

The Adult Court Services Division provides a variety of services for the Sacramento County Superior Courts including pre-sentence investigations, victim restitution determination, jurisdictional transfers, expungements, early terminations and liaison activities. The division also provides supervision for first time offenders placed on Drug Diversion.

Adult Probation Services provide adult clients with assessment, supervision, treatment, and support necessary to prevent re-offending. Various services are made available in the community, through programs such as the Adult Day Reporting Centers and Collaborative Courts. Supervision activities encourage law-abiding behavior among the adult probation populations including clients placed on Post Release Community Supervision and Mandatory Supervision.

The Citizens Academy is held each spring in an effort to provide improved understanding of the criminal justice system. Participants receive an overview of the criminal justice system including the roles and challenges of law enforcement, attorneys and the courts. Crime Alert provides a telephone number and Web Tips to encourage citizens in the community to volunteer information helpful to law enforcement agencies. Callers can remain anonymous and are eligible to recieve a cash reward if the information given leads to an arrest or grand jury indictment of a felony offender. Youth who have been arrested, booked, and assessed as at-risk to the community are detained at the Sacramento County Youth Detention Facility (YDF). YDF provides a safe and secure environment for these youth prior to Court as well as provides educational and vocational activities that promote the health and well-being of the youth served; encourages law-abiding behavior; teaches individual accountability for one’s choices; and models pro-social behaviors for residents.

Juvenile Probation Services provides pre and post adjudication services to youth arrested in the County of Sacramento. Pre-adjudication services include social history reports prepared for the Juvenile Court, which describe the minor's personal, family, educational, criminal history and recommend an appropriate disposition. Juveniles placed on formal probation are monitored in the community, as well as on home supervision and electronic monitoring. These juveniles are referred to community-based organizations to attend counseling and evidence-based programs.

The Speakers Bureau matches members of the District Attorney's Office with community groups and organizations wishing to learn more about various aspects of the criminal justice system. The District Attorney's office may be able to assist you in enforcing your court order if you are a Sacramento County resident and you possess a current, valid court order granting you custody. The Family Court Division of the Sacramento County Superior Courts offers a free Support Calculation Service. In this service the patron meets with a Family Court Pro Tem judge and provides the judge with specific financial information. The judge uses the information to calculate the patron's child and spousal support under California law. View the Calculations page for more information.
